Terms of Use

The “Asuka-Fujiwara” Photo Library (hereinafter referred to as the “Photo Library”) provides photo data (hereinafter referred to as the “Contents”) related to the “Archaeological sites of Asuka-Fujiwara palaces and associated sites”. 

Anyone can freely use the Contents published in this Photo Library as long as they comply with the following terms of use. Commercial use is also possible upon application to the Asuka-Fujiwara World Heritage Site Registration Promotion Council with an explanatory document, etc., and upon receiving permission. (*Commercial use is defined as any use that involves the exchange of money, goods, or other items that may be considered profit-making, such as the sale or purchase of goods, the acceptance of service orders, or the use of goods or services as advertisements or promotions.)

If you wish to use any content owned by Asuka Village or temples, you must apply for and obtain permission in advance. For details, please refer to [2. Use of Contents Owned by Asuka Village and temples].

  1. Terms of Use
    • The rights to the images in this Photo Library are owned by Nara Prefecture, Kashihara City, Sakurai City, and Asuka Village, which are the member organizations of the Asuka-Fujihara World Heritage Site Registration Promotion Council.
    • The use of this Photo Library does not require permission from Nara Prefecture, Kashihara City, Sakurai City, or Asuka Village, but does not constitute a waiver of rights.
    • Any modification or manipulation of the contents of this Photo Library (editing, processing, etc., such as inserting captions, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
    • Commercial use of the contents themselves (e.g., selling or renting the photos themselves, or using them in products like photo sales, such as postcards, calendars, photo books, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
    • Any activity that violates or may violate laws, ordinances, or public order and morals is strictly prohibited.
    • Any act that infringes or may infringe on the rights or property of Nara Prefecture, Kashihara City, Sakurai City, or Asuka Village is strictly prohibited.
    • When using content, please indicate the source of the content. Please indicate the source according to the following credit notation example.

    • These Terms of Use shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of Japan.
    • Any disputes regarding the use of the Content or the Terms of Use shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the district court having jurisdiction over the location of the Asuka- Fujiwara World Heritage Site or the local government having jurisdiction over the constituent properties of the Asuka-Fujiwara World Heritage Site where the Content or the Terms of Use are published.
    • The Asuka-Fujiwara World Heritage Site Registration Promotion Council is not responsible for the content of this site, nor is it liable for any actions taken by users using the Content (including the use of information edited or processed from the Content).
    • These Terms of Use are compatible with the copyright license terms set forth in the Creative Commons License(CC license). For the CC License of the Content to which these Terms of Use apply, please refer to the license notice section of each piece of Content.
  2. Contents owned by Asuka Village and temples.
    • When using content that includes Asuka Village and temples (Asuka-dera Temple, Tachibana-dera Temple, and Kawara-dera Temple) in the “Application” column, please check the “Asuka Village Photo Handling Guidelines” and submit an application to the Asuka Village Board of Education, Cultural Properties Division. For photographs of Asuka-dera Temple, Tachibana-dera Temple, and Kawara-dera Temple, it is necessary to obtain permission from the temple as well.

  3. Commercial use
    • For commercial use, please read [1. Terms of Use] above and be sure to apply for commercial use according to the following procedures. Examples of commercial use are as follows.
      ① Placement of an advertisement in a work created using the content.
      ② Use of the content in publications such as books and magazines (including free papers)
      ③ Use the content to create printed materials such as travel product pamphlets, etc.
      ④ Use the content in newspapers and TV programs. etc.
    • The required documents for application are as follows.

    • If the content is to be published in a book, magazine, textbook, teaching material, academic paper, etc., please submit one copy to the secretariat after publication to show how the content will be used. Submission of application forms and deliverables should be sent to
